Shandeh's blanket!

Here is Shandeh's blanket. I used grey afghan yarn in the basket weave pattern. I hope that once the blanekt is finished, Shandeh will find lots of warmth and love when she wraps herself in it!

Here are pictures of Dawn's blanket.
I had to follow Holly's lead and do some stripes, as well as the pattern in the olive in the Eyelet Mock Cable Ribbing from Harmony Guide: Knit and Purl.

Mulderknitter's Blanket - Garter Stitch Section

I've been working on Mulderknitter's blanket, and I'm almost finished with my section. This chunky yarn goes FAST! I'm just doing garter stitch, because I'm not very creative this week. Also, it's a relaxing knit this way. :)

Here's a photo I took when I first started my garter stitch.

Shandeh's Blanket

Sorry it took so long to get this posted, but here is Shandeh's blanket with the first two sections completed.

I did the second section with Berrella 4 in beige, in a seed stitch checks pattern that is reversible. Loving the fall colors in this blanket!

Mulderknitter's Blanket!

Here is a picture of Mulderknitter's blanket! I am the 3rd knitter on it. I used a simple basketweave stitch. It was an easy knit and the yarn was bulky so it didn't take long. It is headed to Shandeh next!

Let's Get This Party Started!

So far, we've done one mailing for our blankets, and we're slowly making progress!

Some of us (including myself) had a little trouble for the first mailing, so our schedule is kinda wonky. But, that's okay. We have no deadline, and we're all busy with our other Oddball projects. :)

We're trying to get another mailing started for the month of July.

More details to come!

Danielle's Wave oddball blanket!

Here is a picture of the start of my wave's oddball blanket. I'm using "Comfy" yarn from knitpicks. It's a cotton blend and it's very soft, light and airy!! Each section consists of 7 repeats (28 rows) and measures about 5 inches or so. There will be 12 sections total, 6 different colors! I can't wait to mail it out and start working on someone elses! These are going to be such great blankets!

Planning Design, Colors, and Yarn

Now, we are in the planning stage of our blankets. We have a lot to think about!

Will we have every person knit the design of their choice?
Or, will we each choose a pattern that we want to stay consistent on our particular blanket?

What colors do we want for our individual lapghan?

What kind of yarn will we use? Acrylic? Wool? Wool blend?

How will we pay for the yarn? Each person buys all the yarn for their own blanket? Each person uses their own stash on the other blankets?

It's hard to make a firm decision, but I'm sure we'll work it out.

Shandeh has offered some yarn from her stash, so those that need it can take advantage of that. Here are the choices:

Oddball Blankets for Us!

For the past three years, several of us in the Knitting Help Forum have been making Oddball Blankets for charity.

There are nine ladies that lead the project all over the United States. Our leaders have decided to make lapghan-sized blankets for ourselves as well, so we can have something special to remember our project in the years to come. We will be taking turns knitting on our blankets, specifying the colors we want for our own blankets.

It's an entirely selfish project, but we deserve a little something special after all the work we've done on our blankets for charity. (So far, our group has made over 200 blankets for children's hospitals, and several pet snuggles for animal shelters all over the country!)

We'll be posting messages here about the kind of blanket we each want, as well as the colors we prefer. We're so excited!! :)
